Pannon GSM acquires 3G licence
Telenor's mobile arm in Hungary, Pannon GSM, has acquired one of the UMTS licences in Hungary, a "C" licence, for €80m (HUF19bn). The licence fee costs €20m (HUF 5.5bn) in 2004, with the remaining amount to be paid in three yearly installments.

SIM card awareness is on the rise among U.S. consumers, according to a survey commissioned by smart card supplier Gemplus. Bharti Tele has launched ‘Airtel Gold’, the country’s first 64K post-paid SIM card in order to create a premium segment within its post-paid category. This is the first such differentiation offered by service operator amongst post- paid segment.
