5 – 6 MILLION NEXUS ONE HANDSETS COULD BE SOLD IN 2010
Brokerage analyst, Doug Anmuth, has predicted that Google will sell 5 – 6 million handsets of the Android-powered Nexus One will be sold in 2010.
If Nexus One was to follow this prediction the new smartphone would become the best selling Android device ever, and the results would be of credit to its unique selling channel that is solely through Google. And if 5 million phones are sold contract-free for $530 each, Google will see a total gross in excess of $2.5billion.
In comparison however, the iPhone is expected to sell 30 million phones in 2010 and the Motorola DROID smart phone, released in November, is already expected to have sold over 1 million units. Both these totals could dwarf Google’s overall sell if Anmuth is right, but as a new entry to the mobile phone market, this would be a huge success for the internet company.
