HTC DESIRE TO MATCH GOOGLE NEXUS ONE

HTC Desire

HTC have been busy boys at the MWC and have unveiled the awaited descendent of the Google Nexus One… HTC Desire.

The HTC Desire uses HTC Sense interface, a 3.7″ AMOLED multi-touch screen, 1Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, Android 2.1 and will be available in Europe in the second quarter of 2010. The Android handset, is dubbed Google Nexus One’s brother as it it seems to be a close copy of the search engine giant’s phone that HTC manafactured and was released in January: The two are matched in specification and hardware (1Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon, 512Mb ROM and 576RAM to Nexus One’s 516RAM).

HTC Desire however differentiates itself in the use of their trackball navigation, 3.7″ AMOLED WVGA display that is not unlike the Motorola Milestone and HTC Sense user interface that was first seen on the HTC Hero. Desire’s sense UI however has the addition of a Leap function that enables users to multi-task and view seperate homescreens with just a simple pinch on the screen. It also features a Friend Stream amongst many improvements.

It’s a sneaky move by HTC to release an almost identical unit to the Nexus One after they were delegated the job of building the Nexus One phone. And have used what they know, to match Google in the market.

The HTC Desire was amongst 3 phones to be released at MWC – HTC Legend and HTC HD Mini.
