IMMERSION WILL MAKE MOBILES RESPOND BETTER THAN EVER

Immersion, the technology firm that makes your phone vibrate and respond through sensation, has established a new HD sensor that will give more feedback than ever. Immersion mobile haptic feedback technology is present on over 100 million mobile phones from the usual suspects such as Nokia, Samsung and LG.

Immersion spokesperson said:
“Immersion’s TouchSense 5000 solution takes haptics to a new level of fidelity by enabling high-definition haptic effects. That allows us to increase range, strength and precision.”

The new HD technology will allow developers to “replicate fine movements of the sensors”. This will allow future phones to allow users to feel like they are interacting with something different than a touch screen phone – for example, a developed phone with HD sensor could be designed to make a user feel like they a typing an old-fashioned keyboard rather than a touch-screen QWERTY keyboard.

TouchSense 5000 will be on phones by the end of 2010.
