INTRODUCING THE ECO-FRIENDLY SIM CARD

Oberthur Technologies, the world’s second largest supplier of smart card solutions, has announced the release of the very first eco-friendly SIM card.

There's not much to it other than the fact that the Oberthur eco SIM card is half the size of an ordinary SIM card. Consequently this reduces the amount of plastic used by 50% and allows more cards to be printed per single sheet in production and less packaging.

A current SIM card manufactured produces 16kg of CO2 whilst an eco SIM card produces just 8kg.

Oberthur Technologies plan to circulate 400,000 SIM cards that is another step forward in Oberthur's stringent environmental protection policy.
