LG DROPS WINDOWS MOBILE FOR ANDROID
LG have announced half of their smart phones this year will come equipped with Google Android instead of Microsoft’s new system Windows Mobile 7, as originally planned by the popular electronic company.
After the delay of the highly anticipated Windows Mobile technology LG has elected to go back on a statement made approximately a year ago to primarily use the Microsoft system. Although LG initially pledged loyalty to Microsoft, the deal was not made exclusive, allowing the company to explore other options such as the already successful Android system.
LG was forced to make a decision after the impending Microsoft system wasn’t released in November 2009 as initially speculated, in order to compete with smartphones already released by other mobile companies. Approximately 20 of these competing mobiles also operate using the Android system.
LG hasn’t officially severed all ties with Microsoft just yet, but plans to use Android for at least half of the 20 smartphones for intended release this year. The remaining mobiles will likely operate using Windows Mobile 7 or Linux.
