MOBILE SEARCH SYSTEM LAUNCHED BY HANDCASE
Handcase, a Brazilian software industry, has just launched its new mobile search system entitled Gune.
Gune is a meta-search system that searches other websites, such as Google and Bing, and generates a single page of results for the user, ideal for display on the small screens of mobiles and smartphones.
Unlike traditional meta-search websites, Gune operates strictly as a mobile search system and displays results in lists of ten per search engine on a single page. Additionally, users can find the search box at the top and at the end of the page.
Ricardo Garay, CEO of Handcase, says the system was designed with simplicity and convenience for the user in mind.
“The goal here was to optimize the time of the User and aims to provide a superior experience with search,” he said.
Garay adds that Gune was also designed so everyone could contribute to a directory of mobile websites by submitting suggestions to ‘tip-line’ website for approval. Once approved, any tip will be added to the database.
Currently Gune is only available in English, but Handcase promises that Portuguese and Spanish editions will soon follow suit.
Handcase is considered the largest software industry for Palm in the world, with products in the hands of over 2 million people in 80 countries.
