MOTOROLA DROID X PRE-ORDERS STOPPED?
The pre-orders for the eagerly anticipated Motorola Droid X smartphone recently came to a standstill on 30th June 2010 as Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile stopped pre-orders.
The companies claimed that the halt was due to their stock being depleted, and that no more pre-orders could be expected.
However, Best Buy have come back with a second round of pre-orders, only it’s a pre-order with a twist.
Pre-ordering a Droid X will not guarantee you the smartphone on the launch date. In fact, Motorola have not even published a launch date as yet, their only confirmation is that the Droid X will be launched on the same date as Verizon.
This second round of pre-orders began on 4th July 2010, and is expected to continue until 10th July 2010. Motorola have confirmed that if 20 units are pre-ordered for launch day, but the store only receives 10 from the supplier. The first ten customers to have submitted their order will receive the Droid X that day.
There have been problems with production delays from other huge brands such as Apple; therefore you could say that the same should be expected from Motorola. The only question is, is this acceptable, or should pre-orders be guaranteed?
