The Motorola Milestone was, as the name suggests, a land mark launch for the US manufacturer having been languishing in obscurity for the past two years. Packing Android 2.0 (the first phone to do so), a stunning 3.7 inch touchscreen display (capacitive with multi-touch) and slide out qwerty keyboard, the Milestone received rave reviews and was hugely successful in the US as the Motorola Droid. Put simply, if you want a top of the range Android device with a touchscreen and Qwerty keyboard, the Milestone is the phone to get.

But, with the HTC Desire lording it over its rivals having recently made the jump to Froyo and the Galaxy S not far behind, getting the update in early September, the Milestone was starting to look a little long in the tooth. The news that the Milestone will be joining its peers and joining the ranks of Android 2.2 will revitalise the device and give it a new lease of life.
