Prior to Apple’s press conference today the rumour mill has been heavily in motion and more rumours have emerged about the anticipated iPhone announcement, particularly in what firmware it might carry.

Multi-tasking is expected of the iPhone device (similar to other current smartphones such as Palm Pre) and a revised home screen that will see a change to the rows and columns aesthetic – changes to the user interface that will make navigation on the OS easier. Widgets, for example, are expected as they have been applauded by Android users.

The anticipated iTablet (pictured) is believed to have much better multi-touch facility and this is expected to be incorporated into the iPhone also.

However, the press conference this evening is expected to revolve largely around the iTablet and not the iPhone. Still, experts expect that many of the advanced features we will no doubt see on the iTablet will be transferred onto to the iPhone also.
