NOKIA ADMITS N97 WAS A ‘TREMENDOUS DISAPPOINTMENT’

NOKIA N97Since Nokia N97′s release summer last year, Nokia have said that the N97 was a ‘tremendous disappointment’ and they have since made other notable mistakes.

In relation to Nokia N97, Anssi Vanjoki, EVP of Markets for Nokia, said: “it has been a tremendous disappointment in terms of the experience quality for the consumers”.

The N97 has had many, many issues such as freezing firmware, troublesome navigation and problems with accessing the web. For how much of a disaster it was, see our Mobile ‘Dumb’ Phones of 2009.

Nokia have supplied firmware updates which have helped but not enough to shake the stigma of being an utter failure for customers.

Vanjoki noted that the original version of Symbian operating system has also been used “for too long, something which should not have been stretched”.

Symbian version 3 however is more consumer focused, said Vanjoki, and stated that “we have taken the learnings and when Symbian^3 comes out you can rest assured it will be perfect”.

The good news is the Vanjoki interview seems to be Nokia putting a full stop to these troubles and moving on.
