O2 DROPS LAPTOP CONNECTION FEE IN BROADBAND BUNDLES
In an effort to remain a key player in the competitive market and cater to consumers seeking lower prices, popular mobile broadband provider O2 has elected to drop a connection fee that it has been charging on some mobile broadband and laptop bundles.
Various broadband companies have often lured consumers in to purchasing a bundle by offering a mobile broadband package that includes a free laptop or netbook. What consumers may not realize is that some of these packages involve a connection fee, which ultimately raises the initial price and makes the offer less appealing.
Previously, O2 charged an additional connection fee for such bundles. But now, anyone that wants to sign up for a mobile broadband package with the company will receive a free laptop or netbook, without additional fees.
The laptop bundles are available with the 3GB and the 10GB mobile broadband options that come with the Asus 1005H and the Samsung R519, and come with a 30 day guarantee to ensure satisfaction.
Although the free laptop is a great deal, one industry professional points out that O2 customers need to be very cautious not to “exceed their download allowance as any excess data is charged at a massive 20p per MB – far more than any other provider.”
