PALM PRE

Here is the long, long awaited Linux-based smartphone suited both for business and for style. First off, the Palm Pre boasts a highly unique, curved design that is the polar opposite to many chunky, angular smartphones and possesses a beautifully vivid 3.1″ touchscreen. The handset screen slides back to reveal a diminutive QWERTY keyboard but for those with big thumbs or fingers there is a capable on-screen virtual keyboard. Beneath the design the WebOS operating system is ridiculously easy to use once you get the hang of it, up there with the iPhone and Blackberry smartphones in usability. The Palm Pre lives for multi-tasking and social networkers, for example, can utilise Facebook and other apps simultaneously. Trouble is, there’s not too many third party apps for the Palm Pre yet (not as many as the iPhone anyway) but if that doesn’t bother you, the Pre is a high-end, style-conscious device that definitely stands out in a clustered crowd of smartphones.
