On the back of the announcement that in fact Nokia and LG will be incorporating augmented reality in to their phones this year, comes the announcement of an augmented reality app that is capable of facial recognition through your camera phone. That's pretty cool, even more so with a Z in the name.
The Recognizr app is developed by a Swedish company, The Astonishing Tribe, that matches the face of a person to the details on the server and displaying all known details - email address, Facebook profile, latest tweet, even Youtube vids.
The demo video shows Recognizr working its magic. Unfortunately, it reminds of Google Goggles that could ID any face on the street and much as that came under pressure from privacy issues, so to will this. However, this differs in the fact that it is self set up.
It's only a prototype at the moment but watch this space.
