Samsung has managed to post a net profit of £1.7 billion in the last three months of 2009, largely due to an increase in company sales of HDTVs and mobile phones.
During the fourth quarter of last year Samsung produced impressive sales results for both flatscreen televisions and mobile phones, selling 11 million and 70 million units respectfully. In total, the company saw an increase of 16 per cent from last year’s fourth quarter numbers.
In the whole of last year the company sold more than 277 mobiles worldwide, a trend that Samsung hopes to continue in 2010 with “positive growth across its businesses,” according to a company spokesperson.
Although Samsung posted strong results, the company remains behind mobile phone giant Nokia in terms of overall volume.
Samsung will launch its Bada operating system in 2010 in hopes of remaining a key player in the mobile phone race and possibly recapturing some of the smartphone market from major rivals Nokia and Apple.
