SAMSUNG GALAXY S SUCCESSOR REVEALED
A spec sheet found on Samsung’s Download Support page suggests they are preparing to launch a new version of their highly successful Samsung Galaxy S.
It is expected that the so-called Samsung Galaxy Q will have similar specs, but come with a full QWERTY keyboard. As no images were supplied, we can currently only guess what the phone will look like. It is unclear whether it will be a flip-out phone, or whether the keyboard will be face-mounted, a la most Blackberry phones.
The spec sheet does reveal the raft of features we can expect to be packed into the Samsung Galaxy Q. In addition to a 3″ Super-AMOLED touchscreen and the Qwerty keyboard, the Galaxy Q will have an optical track pad, an impressive 8.0 Megapixel camera with an LED flash, HD video capture and a mini HDMI
One of the most exciting things listed on the sheet is that the Galaxy Q will come with Android 2.2 Froyo. This is promising news for those who have the Samsung Galaxy S, as it suggests that Samsung could well be among the priority manufacturers for receiving this OS update.
The Galaxy Q will be powered by the super quick 1GHz hummingbird processor, but it is the internal memory that is particularly impressive. With a huge 16GB of internal memory, you get phone storage levels that are normally reserved for those Apple products that are unexpandable. But the Galaxy Q can take 32GB via a MicroSD card. The Galaxy Q is nicely rounded off with all the usual smartphone connectivity options such as HSDPA, Wi-Fi, GPS and Bluetooth 3.0.
No word on pricing or availability yet but the Korea times is reporting that the Galaxy Q is ready for release with Samsung reportedly in talks with several of the major US carriers. Simbasics will have the news on a possible UK release as soon as it emerges.
